Vrs suspension

Featured Replies

When i go over speed bumps there is a noise coming from ma front suspension? it sounds like a squeaky matress? any ideas.

oh and i don't think its the bushes, the car has only done 40k and the steering is fine (used to own a cavalier with worn out bushes on the wishbones and i know what that felt like - steering wheel used wobble like a 10 year old washing machine!)

many thanks, great site for a great car!

Worth having the consul bushes and drip links checked, as well as the ARB bushes. If they are ok, spray the bushes with white PTFE grease, works a treat

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: Mine lasted 10K

Theres a similar noise coming from the rear of my Fabia (i.e sounds like a squeaky mattress) when I go over speed bumps, but it doesn't seem to do it all the time. For example sometimes it will go for days without making the noise and then makes it again for a few more days then stops again. Also it doesn't make the noise when there's weight in the back - people, stuff in the boot etc.

Could this be a similar problem or is it likely to be something else?

(My Furby's done 60k by the way)

Hi

If the Op has an issues with the front and yours will be the rears I doubt they will be the same part

But could be , as someone has already said , dry bushes

Driver's seat often sounds like this and noise appears to come from front (esp O/S) suspension. Try a few bumps with passengers. Young ladies are best (honest!) as they have a wider range of hearing than the boys.

That is so risky  I find the windows steam up something rotten

"Honest officer, we are just trying to determine what is making the squeaky sounds"

Oh and the KY Lube is for the bushes

lol my seat makes a different squeaky noise so i am fairly confident in ruling that one out...

coincidently how do you stop the seat squeaking?

kieran

Squeaky seats are a PITA to fix. You need to find out of it's the sprung base, then use some thin walled plastic sleeving to keep the springs from rubbing on each other. I use the flexible type window washer feed tubing, slit open and then slide over springs were they contact each other.

I traced the source of a similar noise to the rear OS seat backrest which wasn't locking fully in the upright position. I had to cut away some surplus felt around the catch mechanism aperture at the rear of the seat which was stopping the catch operating properly.

Local motor factors or even Halfords mate.

I have that - a good slam when putting the backrest up seems to cure it...

If you can, get one with a straw nozzle! Makes getting in and around the bushes sooooooo much easier and less messy.

You might have to take the nozzle from another spray because the one I bought was a non straw type. luckily I had just finished a can of air duster with the same size nozzle that was all straw'd up!
