A few annoying problems

Featured Replies

Bought my 54 vrs from main dealer in london about a month ago and got a few problems was just wondering how many of them would be covered under warranty or do you think i could play the 'i've only had it a month' card if not covered. Wont be taking it to dealer i bought from as i have a couple more local but will that affect chanes of not having to fork out any cash?

- Red offside door light lose and not working

- Boot light not working

- Back washer not working

- Strange squeeking noise coming from clutch pedal when goin over bumps

- And this could just be me but second gear seems a little harder to engage

Any comments would be much apreciated

Even if they won't, most won't cost much. 2 new bulbs, the rear washer pipe has probably popped off (plenty of posts on here about how to fix).

My second gear seems a lot more notchy than other gears, especially when cold. I normally get a clunk changing in. I've had 2 garages look at it, new clutch, new gearbox oil, adjusted gearbox linkage... problem remains.

Not sure about that squeaking though

Second gear problem sounds exactly the same as mine will still mention it tho especially with that clutch noise.

Will check that washer pop off problem cheers mate

clutch noise could be from the pedal catching on the trim under the dash

yeah and my 2nd gear has always been like that , done 68k miles like that

Dealers sometimes remove the boot light bulb so that they can leave the boot lid open without flattening the battery while the car is on their forecourt.

A new bulb is all you need for that ..

Forgot about that, mine was still rolling about the boot lol

Nah was a very nice guy called Bob. I traded in my 2001 polo and got £1350 for that and paid £4500 cash which werent a bad deal i thought!

And my 2002 Golf had the notchy 2nd gear as well in a 6speed box.

everything should be covered for 28 days as a minimum, they should sort it all out no questions asked
