Rear Washer Not Working

Featured Replies

Can anyone on here help please? The rear washer on my Fabia VRS has stopped working. I have checked everything and it appears pump is `pumping out water from underneath the engine bay below the battery where the tank/pump is located. As pump is OK and tank not leaking I supect a clip has come loose or pipe disengged. The prblem is how to access as it is really tight under the bonnet. Has anyone had same problem and can advise is it a battery out or work from underneath solution?

Any help/advice much appreciated. :)

It'll be the pipe on the bulk head. If you look down on the right hand side of the bulk head, you'll probably see a hose hanging loose and on the bulk head itself, you'll see where its meant to be attatched to. Sorry i cant be a bit more specific but you'll see what i mean when you have a look under the bonnet;)

The most common problem is that the pipe has become detached in the tailgate. Open the tailgate slightly and run the washer, if you see water coming out of the bottom of the tailgate the pipe is off. Unclip the tailgate inner trim and re connect the pipe. I believe there is also a joint in the pipe near the rear seat, so also look for damp carpets.

Thanks great advice. I did try the Search feature first but skills can't be that good as I missed the link you gave. Problem solved thanks to you!! It was the pipe end coming from the pump which had "blown off " I guess during the freezing weather. The car is left outside and it did get down to -10 C so when I tried the rear washer there must have been ice in the pipe which forced the pipe from the pump. Thanks to your link I removed 3 screws from inside n/s wheelarch, groped inside and replaced pipe on connector. Job done in about 5 minutes! I would have not thought about that route in and had envisaged having to remove battery etc.

Many thanks again for your help.
