Fuses on top of the battery

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm after a bit of information please.

Yesterday my fabia (1.9TDi 2001) had a problem, the power steering failed and then the battery weent dead. Seems the problem may be the alternator is not charging properly (only 12v instead of 14).

Also however, a fuse has blown\or broken through wear and tear on top of the battery and I don't know what this is. It's fuse number 4 and a 40 amp fuse. I'm trying to work out what this fuse does and see if it is connected to the fault in anyway. I can't seem to find this info anywhere so any help appreciated.

Thanks

Fuse in question feeds ABS/TCS control system.

Thanks for the info. I've replaced the fuse and a mechanic friend tested the alternator and it is charging as it should be now. Seems very odd but hopefully it will be ok.

cheers

Hi

Rather than get the alternator replaced , check the wiring to the alternator , I had a problem with mine and I broke down

It happened again a day later and it turned out to be the cable that was broken, not the alternator. The blown fuse was just a co-incidence! Anyway, just wanted to says thanks for the info, saved me a lot of time and money.

If only I had a quid for everytime that advice has been used now ;)
