Lower strut fitting

Featured Replies

Hi guys. Im on with fitting a lower strut brace. How does it bolt in? I see the holes but do i need to take the lower arms off to fit the nut end or what.?

Hi martin, no need to remove anything, the washers squash down as the bolts tighten up into them.

Easiest way is to put washer+bolt through the strut bar and hand tighten the cap nut each end then offer to subframe and support loosely with a jack and then tighten each end. Foam side faces the road BTW assuming it's the S3 brace.

But if you put the washer through the bar then you will never be able to take the brace off should you need to? or have i misunderstood you?

Sorry meant washer on the bolt, bolt through bar then screw captive nut on the so it holds it all in place so when you offer it the captive nut is against the subframe. Does that make sense? Side on view would be bolt, washer, strut brace, captive nut.

Ahh yes i thought you maybe meant that. Fitting was a two minute job, i had to tap the washers into place so they held fine.
