Oh no that's ALWAYS very reliable ;)

Carl

I'm off to my main dealer within the next 7-10 days to have my Maxidot fitted - hopefully V4 disks will be available.

How much do the update disks cost?!?

Just checked with our local Parts Manager this morning and according to him, this isn't showing as a correct part number on the system for either Skoda or VW. He says the system is still showing the V3 as the current version.

He's going to look into it for me, so I'll let you know!

Cheers

As i said i wasn't sure as to how accurate the info was i just found it on VWNavi.com so thought i'd post up on here as i can't check at the moment with being away.

Would be good if it's true

I would try the 1100 firmware, but the link from the german forum linked to from vwnavi has been removed.

Is 1100 the newest firmware & is it available? I've still got the problem of VW POI's showing & was hoping that their would be a FW update soon that might address this!

Please really think before you decide to do a firmware upgrade on the Columbus.

Do a search around the net and you'll hear of many unfortunate people who have attempted a firmware upgrade and managed to just brick their system.

If it goes wrong then it goes wrong badly - to the point of a non-working, non-repair unit.

Map upgrades are fine - but those firmware upgrades...just be sure you know the possible consequence before you do it.

I have already done 2 firmware updates on mine, so I know they can be done and also know the risks. Most of those that have failed so far have usually been because the columbus/mfd3 has been fitted to a car to which it was not intended and they have used a third party canbus emulator to get the unit to work and the update falls over at the can gateway update.

Same here as Mannyo, done 2 on my own unit & fully know the risks, but also the benefits if the FW resolves the bugs that exist

However the last FW update left a few bugs unresolved (well documented in the VW Navi forum). i've not yet seen a list of issues that the latest FW resolves, but if 1100 is now the version out there, I'll have a look

will the V4 accept 7 digit postcode entries, does anyone know?

dill

seems nobody gets hands on a firmware-1100-CD, so i had to pull my drags....

Call me a god

Beware: wipes out Maps and Music, and this is intended for RNS510 - not for Columbus. They say explicitely

Update on 7L6 035 680 / 7L6 035 680 A / 7L6 035 680 B with SW: 0522/1002/1022 to SW 1102

Update on 1T0 035 680 / 1T0 035 680 A / 1T0 035 680 B with SW: 0421, 0520, 1000, 800 or 900 to SW 1100

(no word of Columbus, Skoda, Seat etc......)

So it wont work with 1Z0035680A devices in octavias then?

I'll download and look at the txt file on the route of the cd and see what I can find.

Im burning it now and gonna see if it will update mine in the text it doesnt mention our device part no. but if its not compatible it will just spit it out. Or brick the device  however they can be unbricked so all will not be lost :D

I can confirm that the 1100 update does bot work in 1Z0035680A devices. Just tried 3 different discs and it just sits in the unit and does nothing

However if someone gets it working let me know :D

I hear some guys have problems with that image, others made it work by using DVD-RWs or some special CD-Rs...

Try this image, this time made with Nero
