They are all VW part numbers Manny so I doubt it'll update a Skoda unit.

Back on the subject of V4 Maps - anyone know if these are orderable yet? Looking at wvnavi.com it appears to be any day now....

Just tried with a DVD and it got all the way through initialisation however came up with SWL Error so gonna try on a CD if that dont work i shall just leave it

Remember: this CD says is intented for the VW-Units only, i'm not sure if it will work with the Columbus !

Yup it doesnt work

It's a VW only and i still get the SWL Error on a CD

Will just have to wait till a Skoda one come out

Back to original topic. Apparently some bloke is going to have the V4 maps this week on VWNavi.com:rolleyes: however it remains to be seen. I tried the part number in a Skoda garage yesterday and it came up as unknown

I have managed to get hold of the V4 western europe maps, I'll hopefully get around to loading it tomorrow or Saturday.

Rumour has it that postcode entry is as per V3 maps and not full, I'll let everyone know once its loaded.

Looking forward to your report.

To be fair I'm used to the Postcode entry on the V3 so that isn't an issue.

Looking forward to the updated maps more than anything.

could somebody check if is possible adding POI's on V4?? the software from creating them on V3 is not ready for V4.

Best regards

Loaded the V4 maps today, as expected the postcode search is the same as V3. The map has some new roads that were previously missing from the V3 ones.

There is a tip posted on vwnavi that involves renaming a file and copying it to a different location. It looks like the V4 maps have a different directory structure to the V3.

One thing I noticed on the way to work, the positional accuracy of the V4 map is far better than the V3.

When I got the columbus is had V2 maps on it, which were pretty good on positional data. IE, when you drove under a bridge it was correct on the columbus. I updated the maps to V3, now when you drove under a bridge the columbus was behind by a few meters. Now with the V4 maps, I am back to being accurate again, the bridge is above me and the map show this correct again.

I won't ask where you got your copy of the V4 maps from :)

But do you happen to know if they are readily available at the dealers yet?

I dont think they are from the dealers yet. I have seen 2 listed on ebay from Germany, but thats it so far.

Is there any noticable differences between V3 and V4?

V3 tried to send me the wrong way up a one way street today...
