VRS engine

Featured Replies

Hello there, I am curious about the engine found in the fabia VRS, has the same one been used in audis/vw's as it is found in the fabia or do they use different engines in their cars? A colleague of mine has just bought an audi a3 1.9tdi which I discovered has 114bhp or there abouts where I suspected it'd be 130 like the fabia.... Thanks.

The VRS comes with the 130 PD TDI engine but VAG do different varients of the 1.9, fairly sure they do a 90, 110, 115, 130 and 150 in the 1.9 range

The Fabia vRS engine is used as a 130 or 150 only IIRC, this is the PD.

There is a PD105 IIRC (or was).

The others I thought were CR but I could be wrong.

The lower power (PD100) has different internals and a smaller turbo.

90 and 110 diesels were injection pump diesels (old school but work perfectly well).

100, 115, 130, 140, 150, 160, 170 are all PD engines with the 140 and 170 being a twin cam 2.0 (except the BSS 2.0 in the Superb which is single cam 8v).

The ASZ as fitted to the Fabia vRS was also fitted in a large number of Audi, Volkswagen, SEAT and Ford models such as the Galaxy (IIRC).

You forgot to mention that the BLT engine is fitted to the newer fabia VRS from 2005 on i believe?

Your friend's engine is probably 1.9 TDI PD 105HP. My friend bought A3 with same engine, 2004, I think, and dyno showed 116HP.
