Quick update as it's been a bit quiet in here really :)

Friday saw a Pipercross panel filter go in, just in time for service on Saturday. What a faff! I'd read up on the removal of the 2.0T engine cover, but seriously, talk about over-engineering! No wonder they've re-designed it for the latest revision. Must have taken an hour in total and I'm sure I could bring that down slightly now the 1st time is done, but it's not something I'm exactly relishing repeating

On the plus side, pick-up seems a little sharper and the engine note sounds a touch nicer. Oh, and MPG is up too - so smiles all round :)

Saturday saw a third annual service along with an inaugural MoT up at Simpsons of Colne. Great service and I've posted a more comprehensive review here

So, apart from me breaking the rear wiper clip for the second time, it's been plain sailing :D

Ordered some uprated headlight bulbs last week, when a nice offer came in from PowerBulbs. So I'm now in possession of some Philips X-Treme Power H7s for the dipped beam and Osram Night Breaker H1s for the main. Should have these in this week, in between rain showers. Was going to do them Friday, but all available time was taken up by the lovely air filter fitting :P

Think that's about it for now

Cheers,

Steve

P.S. I know I still need to do a detailing post and will try to do this ASAP :D

Time constraints I'm afraid, terrible I know :(

Steve

I can remember changing the airfilter on my last TFSi, what a friggin nightmare getting the engine cover off, my back was killing me.

I swear the front wheels were nearly lifting off the ground when I was tugging at it

Got it to look forward to on my new one yet :(

As well as service and mot same as you just had.

Interesting to hear your appraisal of the pipercross, might plump for that for now, until funds allow an Evoms or similar.

Cheers

Damian

Typo

the headlight will be fun steve , i know we got 1 loose but the other was well stuck.

better bring it over , may be better as the wd we put on may have helped.

air filter is bloody silly to do .

I too rate the Pipercross :) Certainly is a pig of a job. Its worthwhile lubing the engine cover bushings with a silicone grease or similar to aide future removal ;)

I'm starting to wonder whether or not you've actually cleaned it Steve

Headlamps will be OK now Pete, as I've had them both out for Diadem fitment. They come in and out no trouble now :)

Tom - I have cleaned it, honest mister! :P About 2 1/2 days spent on the detail in fact, so I better get on with the write-up! And I've still got some correction areas that I reckon can be improved on

I shall have to speak to Baker in due course about pad selection I think....

(oh, and silicon grease has been applied) :D

Cheers,

Steve

Fitted the uprated bulbs on Tuesday after work, and gave them a trial on a run out last night. As you'd expect/hope, a noticeable improvement. A distinct increase in output and a welcome defined pool of light in front of the car. I'd found the std bulbs good, especially with the Octy's standard projector lens setup. But upon removal, the H7 bulbs were looking a little dull and cloudy so it would seem my decision was a good one

So Philips X-Treme in the H7 dipped location, and Osram Nightbreaker H1s for main (let's hope they're from the revised batch!) Didn't get cause to use the mains yet though.

Cheers,

Steve

That is super shiny!

A worthy successor to the Fabia.

Needs lowered though!

I would point out it only needed a quick rinse when you bought it :P

But I would be telling a porky :o

Good to see it is being well looked after :)
