Fixed undertray permanently and other things

Featured Replies

Thought I'd get round to some little jobs today.

Firstly I bypassed the CCV to inlet. Sealed the inlet hole with a rubber plug and ran a 19mm pipe down to the lower strut brace and cable tied it to that.

Discovered a leak from my sump plug and have tightened that.

And finally I have a secure undertray as no matter how I fixed it it always seem to lose screws and drop down again.

Inspired by the way the lower brace is fitted I got some stainless steel M4 bolts, washers and rivet nuts.

Drilled 6mm holes near to the original fixings through the undertray and side trays put the cap nuts in and slid the undertray on and tighten up all round.

The finished product, solid fixing points that should hold for good

IMO, metal might have stayed on better than plastic, also less chance of damaging the sump in case of bottoming out. But nice job nonetheless

This is the standard undertray not a sump guard. The screw fixings corrode and the screws drop out. Ive refitted it with progressively larger screws but it always happens again.....until now :D

Nice fix Ian:thumbup:,

The one thing about stainless is "fit and forget". I did look at mine and noticed my tray fixings are rusting as well.

Cheers

I am talking about a metal undertray, not a sump guard
