Fabia vrs costs

Featured Replies

Just had my fabia serviced at 40000 miles and was a bit surprised to be told it needed new rear discs as they were corroded, any one else had this on their car? Last year the service ended up costing over £700 . New cam belt, water pump and the labour for changing one of the front fog lights which you cant get at Ouch!

Hello

One fault is the rear discs do rust/corrode at about 2/3 years with mileage running between 30/40,000 miles. Mine changed at 2 years 30,000 miles.

It is a DIY job but you will need a caliper reset tool (E.Bay sells them).

Reason for this that as the piston is being pressed back into its housing it also has to be rotated at the same time.

Check out E.Bay for set of Discs and Pads as a package, (with a brand name "Mintex" ) surprisingly cheaper than the likes of "Halfords" etc.

Estimate £50 for the whole job.

Welcome :)

Welcome.

My rear brakes last 50K. I'm hopiing the replacments will last another 50K

Hiya.

Corrosion on rear discs is a known issue, particularly on gently driven and/or low mileage cars.

I don't think your total cost, with the cambelt, waterpump and rear brakes is wildly excessive either.
