Heated seats

Featured Replies

I'm looking at getting my heated seats recovered in either cloth, leather or a combination of both, the person doing the work was concerned about the heater element as to what the best material to use for the seat squab.Any suggestions

Im keeping a close eye on this thread cos I want this done in my car.

Does this help at all?:

An electrically heated seat for motor vehicles. - Patent EP0582734

I always thought that heated seats just had wires running through like on an electric blanket but looks like its a bit more technical than that!

So you already have heated seats but just want them recovering? Surely you wouldn't need to replace any padding inside and would just need to replace the material on the outside?

Am I right in saying that the issue here might be that re-covering in leather might reduce the effectiveness of the heated seat? Because I was wondering this also...

The heater element is seperate from the cover and is fixed to the foam padding..

No problems working through leather either, they get super hot.

No problem having Heaters on leather seats. The OE leather seats always have heaters anyway, the fabric covers are not connected anyway with the heating elements, just a bit of care neede to remove yer old covers.

Thanks to you all, the trimmer contacted me last night he said all the material they use for commercial use meet fire regs any way.I have also sent an e-mail to Seat Surgeons to get a price for leather covers and I will get my trimmer to fit them if it works out cheaper that way.
