Boot central locking and courtesy lights

Featured Replies

just wondering if my central locking has everything it should. At the moment when i put the key in the boot lock and turn, all the locks lock. Thats fine. But if i put key in the drivers door and turn, if the boot lock is open, it stays open. I would have thought it should lock aswell as part of the central locking?

can someone tell me what the wires/connector as pointed out with the arrow are for and where they should go?

now i have my rear window motor off at the moment as well but as far as i can tell there is only one lead/connector going in to this and this is hanging loose at the moment. But im just wondering what the other one is for?

Also my boot courtesy lights are not working. I have checked the bulbs and fuses and they are ok?

anyone?

Looks to me like the central locking motor in the boot is missing.

It should be plugged into the white plug and the white clip should have a rod attached to it linked to the motor.

Yeah looks like the motor has been removed! Someone was obviously too tight to replace a malfunctioning one!

Which would also explain why the coutesy light doesn't work. I guess the boot doesn't lock/unlock with the remote either!

no remote central locking, just manual central locking.

As I suspected about the motor being missing.

my car is an estate. could i get one froma hatchback or does it have to be from an estate?

any pics of this anywhere?

thanks for help guys....

The boot lights are activated by a micro switch on the latch, you can just see the plug at the bottom of your picture. It could be that the bit of plastic in the latch that operates the switch is broken or mis-aligned, so the switch doesn't operate. The latches are £50 ++ new, if getting a used one there should be a part number on it, possibly beginning 1U9. They are specific to the estate and you will need to know how many electrical connections there are, disconnect the plug and count the pins. The locking motors used to be around £15 from Skoda, the part number begins 3B0, which I think is the same as the hatch back one.
