High milege Fabia, worth considering?

Hi all, after a VRS, was wondering if there is any issues with buying a high milege one?

Im thinking 100,000m with FSH.

Depends...

1) How old it is ?

2) How its been driven for those 100,000 miles ?

3) How often has it been serviced ?

Apart from that I am not aware of any issues of that distance driven. I remember reading a thread yesterday but cant remember who posted it about a VRS thats done 205,000 miles with no major issues apart from chaning a clutch and flywheel. (Driving School Car)

Its a 2005, so high milege per year.

Was used as a driving instructors car.

Full Skoda service history so Iam guessing it has been done as laid down by Skoda.

Has a new clutch fitted.

205,000! I have old Merc with 175,000 on it and thought that was getting high!

Hmm....im thinking it may have low wear and tear generally if used as an instructor car.

As it has a FSH it should be OK. Our Fabia vRS has now done over 80K

and drives like new and has only had the cam belt changed and a few tyres :)

I'm on 124k on my Fabia vRS.

No real issues, a few niggles, but nothing of concern.

I'm on 86K now and with a full history there are no problems with it at the moment.

The only complaint i can really make about the vRS Fabia is that it can eat front tyres pretty quickly.

I have half worn a pair of firestone firehawks which i believe are rock hard tyres in approx 6mnths:eek:

103k on mine at the moment with no costs other than servicing and tyres. Still on original clutch. Coming round for its second cambelt now.

Still feels tight with no noticable changes over the 80k miles i have driven it - i've been impressed as i mainly commute on bumpy B roads which trashed my previous pug 306.

Re Tyres, Michelins although expensive last very well - current set have lasted 30k on the front before rotating the tyres so may end up getting 40-50k from a set of 4.

Brakes also lasting well. Front discs and pads have lasted 50k and still have plenty of meat left.

I could just drive like Miss Daisy though!

Are they wearing evenly? I put a new set of falkens on the front last april and come october they were worn down badly on the shoulders. I've since fitted new console and powerflex bushes, but have yet to get the 4 wheel alignment done on a proper hunter machine.

I'd recommend having the 4wa checked to rule that out...

Nearly 250k was done in the estate before Ross (Lummox) did the conversion. You will of course have stone chips etc at that mileage, but it should be ok for the rest. Worth checking it over as you may find the usual wear & tear items are worn. It should be possible to find one, however you may also be able to find one with lower mileage probably for decent money these days.

I'd consider it would wouldn't pay more than 3K. I've seen 35,000 mile examples go on e-bay for just over 4k so there wouldn't be any need to. I'm the ADI with the 205,000 mile vRS but I wouldn't sell it because it won't be worth a bean, may as well keep it, the great thing about these Skodas is that you can, and mine is continuing to give good service. I'm spending more on repairs but it beats buying a newer one which I would probably have to pay out on anyway for even more repairs. SAJNA

That's right - if you stay on top of repairs, in particular bushes etc, it is actually not too bad at all :)

Mt bro bought a55 plate ex instructor vrs with 130k miles on it. Drives like new and cleaner than most lower mileage examples about. How much is it up for? Should be about 3000-3500. Over that, i would not bother

I was at Manheim auctions last wed at Middlesbrough where a 54 plate Fabia Vrs went for£4450 plus buyers fee!!!,car was a bit of a pig with 66000 miles but only had 4 stamps in service book,couldnt believe the amount of stonechips on front bumper and bonnet looked like it had been hit by a shotgun! It also wanted discs and pads on the front,a cambelt and all 4 alloys refurbishing,it sold for what some dealers are asking retail before all the above jobs had been attended to...

why not if its been serviced properly ,,just sold a tdi elegance with 106k on it sweet as a nut,, bushes a bit worn,, bit of oil round the intercooler power steering would cause the lights to flicker from time to time, check the clutch feels ok mine was starting to smell strange ,,the rear tailgate release wouldnt work, and the rear screen wash,pipe had come off all the usual fabia probs apart from that it went well and was well put together,, it never let me down and idve taken it anywhere you would probably better off paying a bit more for less miles or haggle hard its a buyers market at the moment :thumbup:

100k.miles? Just run in for a diesel mate. As every one else says look at the overall condition. Ask yourself, Has the seller been looking after it properly, if he has then at the right price its worth buying. As you have a fabia diesel alredy you should know what to look for.

I got mine 6 months ago with 113000miles, one IT company owner, fully serviced etc. Now on nearly 128000 miles, sweet as a nut :D
