cr or pd

Featured Replies

recently converted from fabia vrs to octy vrs 07 plate station wagon and am now becoming slightly concerned as i got a great deal so bought quickly now im not sure if ive been sold a pd and not a cr is there a quick way to tell

i think the cr only became available in 2008 (not sure which MY build) so if its an 07 then it probably wont be? do a search as there are a couple of threads on here that show the engine cover as its different on each one

Could try checking the sticker inside the front cover of the service schedule.

Mine shows CRDPF in the type description line (mine is a CR) - presume a PD would say something different.

As stated above, I don't think CR's were about in 2007.

How was the car advertised ?

The above thread was placed by someone who ended up with a PD when he was led to believe it was a CR. Not quite sure if that is what you are saying.

BTW - CR also appears on the logbook of mine.

CR has only been available from later in 2008, you have an 07 which is late March-September 2007 so its deffo a PD. Thr CR engine made its debut in the 2008 geneva motorshow which is quiet a while before full production.

If it sounds like a tractor on start up it is a PD. Otherwise it is a CR!

Also the vacuum pipe coming out of the air box tube is different on the CR - if it looks like the picture on the attached thread then it is a CR. The hose doesn't run into a cylinder rubber housing on the PD.

T be honest, why worry If you like the car and got a good deal? The PD is a perfectly good engine.

That's a fair point.

Goes to show that you should do your research before handing over your hard earned though

If it's too good to be true then it usually is my friend.

how can 3500 off be a bad deal no other outlet franchised or not could get even close

Ask yourself why it may be £3,500 cheaper than anywhere else

Does it have finance outstanding on it?

Has it been registered as an insurance write off?

Has it been in a serious accident?

Has it been stolen and / or cloned?

Has it been clocked?

Etc

Based on your original post you don't even know what engine it's got so can you confidently answer no to all the above?

It's only a bargain if you've actually bought what you thought you were sold.

You've got nothing to worry about then have you?

As above - what's the problem ?

Can't see where the concern is.

Any basic research into TDi VRS's would show that a 2007 car could only possibly be a PD.

Agreed. If you got a good deal, don't worry about it. You certainly would have had to pay more if it was CR, I would have thought...
