Bluetooth mobile as a bluetooth headset. Is it possible?

Featured Replies

Bit of a silly question really.

My laptop has bluetooth

My mobile phone has bluetooth

Can I use my mobile phone as a bluetooth headset on my PC (for use with Skype)?

Excuse the noobness, but I could do with a headset for skype (laptop doesn't have mic) and I can't be bothered to go out and buy one if I can use my mobile as a mic instead :o

You should be able to use just the BT headset Xav, I used to do exactly that with a Jabra one.

I think the OP wanted to use his actual phone as the mic/speaker device but I'm pretty sure there's no way to do that.

what phone is it and what blutooth stack are you using?

basically the only combination i know will work is the widcomm stack, and a sony erricson phone.. - microsoft stack doesnt have the right profiles, nither do nokia phones

Yes, I want to use the phone as a bluetooth headset.

I have a bluetooth headset at home (Jabra one), but being me, completely forgot to pack it, so I only have my mobile on its own.

Colin, I have a proper SE phone, not some Nokia tripe :P and can use the Widcomm stack. Can you provide any more pointers? :D

within the widcomm stack, once the phone and PC is paired, you should be able to see all the profiles the phone supports.. it should support "headset" or "handsfree" - when you connect to that profile it should bring up more audio devices availalbe for the computer to use.

Dont hold me to this... its been a good few years since i did it..
