Which to choose?

Featured Replies

Right finally got enough £££ together to sort my clutch. Going for an upgrade:-

Which one?

none! go for the helix SMF kit from demon tweeks for £800

How much?????????????????? Wow! Thats some saving!

Yes it is a saving, but what about fitting? Jabbasport will supply and fit their kit for about £1K atleast you kno then its done by pro's too.

Its ok - got the fitting covered!

For out and out performance id personally go for the jabbasport kit, as the use of the SMF also has the added advantage of the effect of shaving weight off the car about 70KG if i remember correctly, although there is a bit more chatter from the engine i feel its advantages would outweigh that.

helix :D stick it in and forget, i may be requiring a new turbo after tonight.... hmm :)

Got a price from DemonTweaks for the Helix kit at £788 - but thats plus VAT! (=£906!)

Ok finally going to make my choice this afternoon and get it ordered and paid for. Just not sure which one yet!

Surely you mean 7Kg?!

Nope the added acceleration is equivelent to what would happen if you lighten the car by 70Kg. its due to the reduced ratating mass of the flywheel meaning the engine can spin up faster thus accelerate faster.

Jabba kit ordered!

Are they fitting it or are you fitting it yourself? Just an idea but whilst your at it if your doing it yourself, change your gearbox oil too whilst youve got everything outa the way.

Yeah - sorting it out myself - thanks for the tip!

Sorry, mis-read your post. Thought you said the flywheel was 70Kg lighter! lol.

why the hell is it so expensive?

quality parts allways are

how noisy is an smf? and can replacing the dmf cause problems in other areas e.g. drivetain and gearbox

  • 3 weeks later...

ultra_joel88 Good question as iv just had mine fitted by a local garage and its shakin all over the shop surely its not just me this has happened to? or could it just be a problem with fitting? as it is at the minute im tempted to pay to have the dmf put back in

spoke to luke about this! according to him! the SMF is a noisy bugger as it is solid with no springs in whereas a DMF has springs. i THINK its to do with the springs helping the vibration and what not but luke has said as the SMF has that much torque going through it that the springs will snap..so it is designed without....or something along those lines!!
