pas???????????

Featured Replies

does anyone know much about the power stearing wrack on the felicia?

i has mine replaces because i damaged it, but now it handles very strangely.

the stearing feels somewhat spongy and unpredictable, the other day when parked with the engine on, i turn the stearing wheel 90deg and when i let go it sprang back to the middle having not moved the wheels at all.

could this be an air lock in the system? if so how do i blead it out? if not then what could be coursing the funny handling?

90deg? that's only a quarter turn, that would barely move the wheels at all..

if there is an airlock, jack the front of the car up so both front wheels are off the floor, take the cap off the pas resovoir, and keep turning the wheels from lock to lock until all the air has gone

It should spring back slightly as there is fluid pressure trying to relieve itself and the tyres are trying to retirn to an unstressed state

I'd say Tom's right; I've never known system spring in a PAS move it more than about 5 degrees. Even to get that, you had to load it right up when stationary.
