Which dogbone mount bush?

Featured Replies

After doing sone research I'm still unsure about which SuperPro bush to go for on the dogbone?

I've heard that the front round bush will rattle my teeth for 1000s of miles, but makes putting the power down easier.

And the 2-piece rear bush isn't as harsh rattle-wise, and helps reduce wheel-hop and improves gear changes?

So which one is best to fit first? Can anyone help me out a bit more please

I have both but put them in at differant times. I went with the 2 piece rear first and yes it is initially harsh but settles well after 500 miles or so.

Then I put in the solid front bush and OMG I thought what have I done, don't get me wrong it was great driving but sitting on tick over everything rattled.

Took longer than the front to settle but it did and now I wouldn't be without it.

Do the rear first would be my advice and see if you can live with it. If you do decide to do both don't do them at the same time as it will rattle your fillings out. SWMBO might enjoy tickover more though

Cheers Lex. It's just that I've had an offer to get the front one a bit cheaper but obviously I don't want it to be too rattly. Maybe I'll have to re-consider. Plus the rear ones are £30+ and the front one is £13 so I was just thinking of a cheapo mod.

The front on it's own will be an improvement then when it settles you could get the rear. I did it the other way round so can only give you my experience on that. The rear is probably better overall but together it's a huge improvement when settled

I've just put super pro bushes on the front and rear of my dog bone and what a difference! No wheel hop at all, car pulls away in a hurry beautifully. There is increased vibration on tick over, but not as much I was expecting. Fitting the rear bushes was simple, just a case of unbolting and removing the end plate, sliding off the old bushes and then sliding on the new ones and bolting the plate back on. Front bush was a bit more tricky to do, I had to drill the old bush out and then use a vice, a lot of lube and a lot of swearing to get the new one in . Managed it after about 20 minutes.

That sounds reassuring  Seriously though, Lex was worrying me a bit with his tales of front bush rattle :D but I'm going to do it anyway and see what happens. I can always go back to the OEM bushes if it's too much

The front is worse than the rear 2 piece and may have been further accentuated by the firm rear bushes. Honestly though if you can tolerate it till it settles it's the best mod you can do for the money
