I was told by my dealer that the new Fabia vRS is going to be a 1.4 litre petrol supercharged AND turbocharged unit. Doesn't sound very plausible to me but you never know. I know that supercharger/turbocharger combinations have been done, in fact i've seen a modded Sierra 4x4 built this way, but a small production car. Mmmm.

The reason he told me is because i was asking to order the first one available if it was a diesel. The CR 170 sounded a fine prospect. Have to wait and see.

VW use a 1.4 petrol turbo/supercharger combination on the Golf. My dealer also thinks it is going to be a 1.4 petrol unit but doesn't think there will be a diesel option.

It would be surprising to not see a derv option TBH - as that is one of the 'features' of the Mk1 vRS.

I've not driven the 1.4 supercharged/turbocharged combo, would be interesting to try it but it would be a tricky on to tune up a lot I'd have thought.

I wonder if the 'sport' will be as high as in the pic, and the vRS version be a tad lower but similar in styling, which IIRC would be a lot like the current Sport.

Hopefully they won't go for the IMHO awful retrofit with the wrong switches leccie windows though.

im wish they bring out a car in the size range between a fabia and octy. but like apd i would be tempted if the right engine came out.

Skoda kind of have / will it's called the new Fabia Scout. I saw it in the Fab II or was it in the general car section. It would be nice if they made an Octavia hatchback being Golf sized not Bora shape.

Little bit of fettling and it is a good progression from a standard Mk1 VRS

the 1.4 TSI engine in the golf is a peach!!

driven one at work alot and love it. Pulls from well low revs and doesnt stop going till the redline. On the plus side, they are by all accounts tuneable engines too, so getting some extra ponies from it will be cost effective.

Yes it does look good, could be lower but I think it'll be boringly sensible when the vrs does come out

never have liked the new fabia and never will! thought it would grow on me but its just so soft looking!!

Is it just me or does the black wheel arch trims, sills, front & rear spoilers remind you of a mk2 golf GTi - or is it just me?

one insider did promise us that the finshed car would be "even more extreme" than the model we saw at Geneva. Likely to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show that car will take its inspiration from the firm's recently unveiled S2000 rally car.
