Felicia brake lights high level working sides dont

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just been to look at the brake lights on my girlfriends Grandads car. The high level brake light comes on but not the sides. Obviously I have changed the bulbs but they still don't work

Having searched the site I see the switch buggers up on some skodas. Is this the likely cause?

Any info appreciated.

Thanks.

Paul.

Welcome to Briskoda. :) I have moved your query to the Felicia forum where it is more likely to attract attention.

They are all fed from the same switch so wont be that, I would have said bulbs or wiring but I dont recall seeing a Felicia with a high level brake light.

My 1996 1.6GLXi had one!

Furry muff.

Yup... have seen them on a few!

And I want one!

IIRC all facelift fellies have one. Have you checked that there is power to the bulb terminals and that you have the correct bulbs

i think they are fused seperately from the high level one,

This strikes a chord with us Octy A4 owners; anyone (yes I'm looking at you two Ross and Tom) know if late Fellys use the same switch as A4s?

i've just skimmed through the wiring diagrams because i wasn't 100% sure, the high level and ordinary brake lights all share a common fuse, and they all come via the same switch, the switch only has 2 contacts for on/off operation so if the high level one is on it's not a problem with the switch... in the back of my mind i can see a multiway connector somewhere on the left hand side under carpet under the rear seats but it may be for the central locking, i would have to check... it's worth having a look to see if a plug has come out

Thanks for the replies I'll check the plug thing under the seats but I cant use a multimeter so cant check if there is power to the lamp.

Any more suggestions are most welcome.

Cheers.

is it possible the terminals the bulbs press onto are corroded and need a scrape off and clean up? i this happened on both my corsa's

Same thing happened to my father in law's felicia last week - got a chance to check it at the weekend after reading this forum post! :D The brake light switch was a bit sticky and wasn't releasing fully when the brake pedal was pressed. All well now. Just wondering - is it okay to spray the switch with a bit of WD40?
