i have the 1998 model and i have no ideia if i have abs. i don't feel it at least.where can i check to be sure if there is or not? something diferent on the wheels? on the brakes? a certain button? written somewhere?

Turn the ignition on and an ABS light will come up and then go out.

I thought Felicia brakes were discs up front that used pads made of wood and an anchor

I surely don't know, Here in Israel Info on the felly is scarce. The abs light doesn't appear, but i'm in doubt they'd put a 1.6 engine on this light weight car without abs.

I wanna upgrade my braking system..Any advice of what will fit?

Other Topic on the way...can any1 send me a link for a lowering suspension kit for the felly?

If an ABS light doesnt come up, it doesnt have it.

Not many Felicias do have ABS, even the 1.6's

my 1.6 felicia does not have abs, but i have got an image of a dinner plate and a dish cloth in my mind when thinking about the front brakes

Ive never had a problem with the felly brakes, apart from anoying squeel mine give once warmed up, Will have to cut a groove in the pads, like i used to do with my old sierras years ago

To the OP - why exactly do you want to upgrade the brakes? Don't they stop the car properly? You normally only need to upgrade brakes when you have upgraded the engine significantly, or if you are going to be racing the car. Otherwise upgrade something that will make a real difference, like suspension.

the suspension kit is soon gonna be replaced by a lowering kit from hp czech republic, my brakes are old, and the lack of good shock absorbers right now on the car do not help much. so the suspension kit and brakes are 2 projects that are going to be on the way soon.

Does anybody know a good place to buy the suspension kit?I need cheap and that fits the skoda

I find the brakes on my car very good actually and never felt like there wasn't enough stopping even when driven hard or fast.

I do have ABS and pretty new discs, pads and shoes all round.

I think you can't really go a miss with just re-newing the brake components really. You can also check in the wheel arches and if the car has ABS there will be a wire for the ABS sensor.

Look, brakes basically either work or don't, end of subject. Worn-out shock absorbers will do more to affect normal braking behaviour than the brakes themselves. If the brakes are old, just fit new discs and new pads (and maybe new flexible hoses while you're working down there - none of this stuff is expensive or hard to fit) and forget about it. The chances are that the braking performance won't be affected but the brakes will be less likely to fail on your catasrophically one day when you don't expect it!

Oh, and change the brake fluid too. If that's really, really old and disgusting it may be slightly affecting stopping performance and pedal feel. If the brakes are really spongy you may need new seals in the master cylinder. If the brake pedal needs all your strength on it to stop the car your servo has failed or the vacuum hose has fallen off.

If you want to make yourself feel good about the brakes, then by all means spend extra money on them - or just paint the calipers red!
