tried toyo R888s today OMG

Featured Replies

my mate decided he weas going to buy some R888s for his type R today, so I said we should go out and give his car the beans before and after fitting.

wow. the difference was huge, especially as he didnt even need the change of tyres, he changed it due to the upcoming dry weather and track plans.

I could not believe the extra grip they gave, on turn in and off the mark. I am hundred percent buying my self some for the summer especially as i move to rheindalen next week, only 1 hour from the nurburgring:):D:):D

Ithe only thing we wernt sure abut was the life expectancy, but i think with the smile that grip gave us id get over it.

I would like to add though that the ground was lovely and dry today though. I can imagine they are highly amusing in the wet.

you lucky sod!

Id be at the ring every sports afternoon mate. and the weekends.

all best mate!

I know, was over the moon when that came through.

Missus is thredders though, im well gonne be there at least 3-4 times a month now.If not more, Im going to need those tyres, plus the ones on my car have loadsa tread left so ill keep them as well. . And im treating myself to a b/day present at the ring for the F1 race there this season.

going to look into seeing if you get discount for buying laps in bulk or season tickets maybe.

sounds good mate.

think my lass would leave me if I was over there lol.

id never be in the house. are you gonna get some other rims for the toyos? jus pop them in the boot or a mates car? take it in turns jus so the toyos are not ruined by the normal roads?

I not been to the ring yet but once the funds are better ill be off.

Expect about 4000 miles of road use. Ive used a few sets, one particular set got me from Blackpool to the ring, 40 laps of said ring, back to Blackpool. I'll let you do the maths.

In the wet - they still provide more grip than your ordinary all season or summer tyre, just mind standing water!

They will utterly amazing once the tyres are bedded in too, which takes about 500 miles before they are at their best :)

Enjoy.

looking at buying a set of 19inch rs4 alloys with tyres. same as harry_vRS has got. Then i can swap when the weather goes tits up. you've gotta try the ring. Just beware of the bikes and the to**ers that drive it. I have never managed a full uninterupted lap yet, but I hold back unless i have space. I love my car too much. Airfield days on the other are another matter

my tyres are pretty good in the wet so if they are even close id be happy.(pilot sport 2 on the front only, std pilot exaltos on the back)

although i am unsure wether to just go for front tyres or all four. im dubious to know if the amount of extra grip would induce too much oversteer. I dont notice it at the moment.

On the Octavia 2, fronts will "do" as the esp pretty much stops anything stepping out of line - BUT 4 tyres will give you a seriously HUGE grin ;)
