Awesome economy?

Featured Replies

Went down to Northampton at the weekend for a friend's emigration party. No particular hurry so stuck cruise control on at around 65 for most of the journey (except where the posted speed limit was less, obviously). My ever optimistic trip computer informs me that I managed to average 77.6mpg over the 400 mile journey. I've just brimmed the tank and calculated that I managed to actually get 63.1mpg which I still think is pretty impressive!

On recent trip to France I managed to average 76.4, thought that was good but you got me beat :handshke:

Most impressive, but then I never had the patience to go at that speed, for that length of time :)

best i have seen in my car is 68mpg at 55mph - might have been better but got bored n kept hitting 90mph

47 Average MPG for me currently but thats because I've been town driving alot recently

Miss spelling Oops my bad !

Mine's not quite a vRS but on a run from Stornoway to Ness and back again (45-odd miles, mix of 60mph and 40mph) tonight I got 64mpg...and I'm lucky in that my computer doesn't over-read!

And that was sticking at the speed limits, with some overtaking. Quite impressed, but I think the Miller's Power Sport 4 I use does help slightly.

Ive probably got the worst Fuel econemy on mine due to my remap tweak but at 330lbs of torque on a standard turbo I aint complaining thanks to Jabbasport most other cars dont stand a chance in the 3rd lane.

What other mods have you got to get that amount of torque on a standard turbo?

my 2000mile trip to france and back averaged 50mpg for the week.

And that the best i've seen in my car (hoping it's a strange breed and under-reads)

Glasgow to Aberdeen and back on Sunday. I wasn't hanging around and still averaged 62mpg. Only used just over half a tank!!

Yeah, mine over-reads loads

I did a 130 mile round trip to newcastle at the weekend averaging about 60mph and the trip computer stored 72.8mpg which is the most I have seen it at since having the car :D

On a trip from St Albans to Manchester and back with a long load on the roof rack:

Limited to 50-55mph for obvious reasons my trip computer averaged...

wait for it....

81.7MPG

Blimey, if that thing rotates you'd take off!!!!

Isn't there a lot of variation in the computer readouts ? Aren't some really out and over optimistic especially the more recent models ?
