Raising vRS

Featured Replies

Last night I had to listen once again as my vRS bottomed out on a bumpy local road. This never happens in the 1.6. Any one know how feasible it would be to have the vRS raised to the height of a normal Octy?

Is it actually the metal scraping, or the bumpers?

 should have bought a 4x4

..and check your sump for cracks \ scrapes.

Not sure what it was that hit, but it was a fairly solid thump. A friend who runs a small garage in the evening is going to check it out this evening, along with checking the 1.6 for its MoT on Monday morning.

Hmm...well, if it's the bumpers scraping, then raising the car without getting stiffer springs won't help.

If it's metal it's hitting, your best bet is to aim to get the tyres to go over the bumps... :)

Fit a sump guard :D

Available from your friendly local dealer. Got one on mine and now hit things with impunity :D

Fancy lending it to a certain 4x4 owner?

Tavia's first sump guard (off his RS, would not fit the taxi) is currently residing in the north west ;)

Where are these available from? I take it your referring to a proper metal rally sump guard, not the plastic sump tray from a dealer?

Hmmmmm....

But where are they available from then?

Its a sump guard that the police have fitted to the police spec vehicles. It replaces the original plastic one and involves a bit of welding for the mounting bolts. There a TDI octy taxi riding round here with one on. His driver had cracked the sump. I think the guard was around
