Scratched lights

Featured Replies

While giving the car a good wash today, I noticed that the rear lights were horribly scratched! I know the paint has a good few swirl marks on it, which is going to get some attention soon, but I hadn't noticed how bad the lights were. I had a search around DW and learned that regular polishes would work just fine on acrylic light covers. My Sister seems to have hidden the polishes away somewhere I can't find them, but there was a bottle of T-Cut to hand. Hmmmmm...

So, before:

And after 10 minutes of T-Cut, damp cloth, elbow grease and a microfibre.

Loads better, though some scratching remains. I'll need a machine polish to get them all out I expect. Next on the list are the headlights, which are in much the same state! The previous owner must have been washing the thing with a brillo pad

Looks much better. My new policy is if I can't see a defect from the drivers seat I don't worry about it

Salt in the winter

Bird Poo and pollen in the spring

Flies in the summer

Leaves in the autumn

Why do we bother :D

Good work and if I were you I would source some Plastic-X from Megs as this can more than likely remove those final marks as it's specific to PC for Headlamps and PMMA for Rearlamps............:D

I'll see if I can get some. The T-Cut didn't work quite as well on the headlights but it was still an improvement.
