Superchips PD170 remap??

Recommended Posts

A week today we are picking up our 57 reg PD170 estate!

I'm thinking about a Superchips remap. I've read most of the posts on here however many of them are old which got me wondering how is the remap to love with? Any increases in MPG? More importantly will this void my warranty and how more expensive can I expect to pay for insurance!? Also any long term issues and is the DPF thing sorted (whatever that is!!). Obviously the misses, who will probably drive the car more than me will take some convincing!

Apologies for all he questions!

Paul :)

same as any other remap really from what i've read (not had my PD170 remapped just yet - waiting till next month)

MPG - improves, i.e. if your doing 60 you'll get better fuel consumption by a few mpg than before the remap but if you use the extra power you'll probably miss any fuel saving :P

It will void your warranty, but i was speaking to a skoda dealer that is a revo agent and i said what if i have any warranty issues once the car has been mapped, to which his reply was? what map? we cant tell the car has been remapped. also if your going down the superchips route, go for the bluefin then if you really are worried you can take the map off before the car goes to the dealers and load it back on when you get the car back

now you could take the same attitude with the insurance, you'll find as many people telling you to declare it as not to declare it, if your an "average" driver that pays under £500 a year i imagine you'd be looking at anywhere between £30 to £100 premium increase, thats assuming your insurance company will even let you, some dont like mods

from what i've read the DPF issue is pretty much sorted, with tuners take a less aggressive approach to remapping the car. milltek have made a down pipe that removes the DPF but i dont know if the software has been written yet to rid of it

I've just been looking at Evolution Chips. They guarantee better MPG!? even quote up to 20% increase. A less optimistic 10% would quickly pay for the cost of the remap (£380) without considering all the other advantages..

Decisions decisions

Don't expect any particular improvement in mpg with a remap on a PD170 - you'll be using the extra performance instead.

Bahnstormer vRS has bluefin on his TDi and I know he's very pleased with it. I'm sure he'll be along shortly....

Before you collect it, make sure with your dealer that it has had the 26E6 remap and exhaust gas pressure sensor upgrade.

Very happy with mine.
Any increases in MPG?
No change to before remap; I just use the extra performance instead.
More importantly will this void my warranty
If there is any problem with Skoda Warranty, Superchips provide their own to cover in lieu (no-one else that I know does this with a remap).
and how more expensive can I expect to pay for insurance!?
no experience of this as car is on blanket fleet policy.
Also any long term issues and is the DPF thing sorted (whatever that is!!).
Superechips have ensured their current PD170 map (with 26E6 upgrade) is 'safe' on DPF issues. Certainly in 6 months and 10,000 miles since I had mine done the DPF light has not come on once and I only very occaisionally get a 'discreet' regeneration.
Obviously the misses, who will probably drive the car more than me will take some convincing!
try telling her there is more power/torque so the car is easier to drive and you can get out of trouble better.

No apology required; good luck.

Evolution Chips are very good and have alot of benefits that other remap specialist don't offer. How many offer GUARANTEED lower diesel consumption? 7 day Money Back Guarantee? Mobile Fitting in some areas? Lifetime warranty of the remap? Tailored map to suit your vehicle if its modified (i.e. exhaust, air filter, etc)?

Im getting an Evo remap for my Octavia as Stu and Kenny @ Evo Chips have a very vast knowledge into vehicle mapping, Stu even writes articles in a popular Ford magazine.

If you don't like the remap, how your car drives, fuel consumption or the performance then take advantage of the 7 day money back guarantee.

(Sorry, Ive been reading up on these for weeks as I want mine remapped without complications)

Hi Guys

Just had my Hyundai Santa Fe remapped by Evolution Chips and it is fantastic, I got an increase from 150 to 180 hp and a 60NM increase in torque. Furthermore the trip computer rarely showed an average of more than 38mpg even with the most careful style of driving. Now using a good wack of the performance it is showing 40.6mpg.

Barter on the cost too, I paid £330
