boot opening from driver's seat

Featured Replies

has anyone worked out how to open the boot lid from being sat in the car without taking the keys out and pressing the centre button on the fob. I woudl have expected a boot release button somewhere - i know there isnt one but wondered if someone had worked out a work-around ?

i picked someone up from the station the other day and woudl have been useful for me to pop the boot open so they could put their luggage straight in.

and many people say superbs are only for taxi drivers !! bet they woudl welcome a boot release switch.

my passat has one on the driver's door alaong with fuel flap release. boot release is not much use though as the car doesnt have auto-opening boot lid !

I think you've answered your own question. With central locking there isn't really any need, unless the boot opens right up.

but thats my point exactly - IT DOES OPEN RIGHT UP on the superb 2 !!!!

Should be a very easy fix for an auto electrician

i see. hadn't realised you were talking about your passat at that point

Well,it should be a matter or wiring. If passat has a button for this,we only need the wiring to the confort module I think and we can use one of those "decorative" buttons near the ESP switch.

Have you tried pressing the centre button whilst the key is still in the ignition?

I tried,but no luck :thumbdwn:

doesnt work - i suspect a safety issue so you dont opne the boot as you are driving !!

We could use one of the buttons near the gear shifter for this operation. We need the wiring from a passat, and it should work ok I guess.

Supose you will have to take the key out of the ignition, press the button and start your car again! least you won't have to get out (if it's raining).

yep - might thoughts exactly ! I just wondered if there might be a slicker solution but looks like there isnt !

Does that qualify for stop/start technology then?

Try switching off before using button - (just an idea from Ford )
