What the likely mpg towing a 1200kg laden van with a L&K estate 1.8t?

is it worth going for the 1.9 diesel version instead? whats the likely mpg for that?

am i correct in thinking the l&ks with the tdi are 130bhp version like in fabia vrs

L&Ks have both the 110 or 130 BHP TDI engine. The easiset way to tell is by the number of gears. The 110s are 5 speed, 130s are 6. Both engines were available in the Elegance and L&K, 130s seem to be quite rare though and command a significant premium over the 110.

Personally I would go diesel as there is more torque available for towing and you should get considerably more mpg than with a 1.8T.

When sticking to towing speed limits I have still seen 55mpg (car readout) as my average for a 60 mile drive, but granted I wasn't pulling a 1200kg van, but a trailer full of logs with 110TDi.

The TDi badge on the back should help with engine sizes (all non-PD):

TDi = 90 bhp

TDi = 110 bhp

TDi = 130 bhp, 6 speed

The 130 is a PD, engine code ASZ.

With the ASZ PD130 I you will struggle to use 6th gear when towing as the revs are so low at 55-60mph but the grunt that this engine gives will be great for towing. If you are really concerned about the economy when towing and normal driving look for the 110bhp as this is the most flexible engine for performance and economy
