Delivery route, Czech Rep. to UK

Featured Replies

When a new car is shipped from the Czech Rep. to the UK, what is the normal route taken regarding port of exit from mainland Europe and port of entry into the UK?

It will probably arrive about 500 meters from my office in Grimsby.

Oh by the way.. its gonna be ragged the moment it falls off the boat! You should see them driving them to the car transporter lorries.. off the limiter in every gear!

Not sure this belongs in reference materials though.. will move to general car chat.

thats fookin pathetic!

Id fire them all. y does noone have no respect for stuff thats not theirs these days?????

I think there may have been a hint of sarcasm/ wind up in Alexs' post

My local dealer told me that they now come by rail, through the channel tunnel....

skoda come in to sheerness where skoda import centre is dealers can check if any work have been carried out by them as it has to be logged in cars history

when the cars come to us they are in transport mode this is so most of the ele goodes can not work and the revs are limited to stop over reving and is turned off by dealer at pdi

I was not joking! 2 days ago i saw a whole line of octavia vrs's being driven to the awaiting trucks. Pulling onto the round about every single one was thrashed within an inch of its life!

Seems they are imported all over the shop! There are hundreds of skodas sat in the car park opposite my office. See; dn311sj - Google Maps

perhaps film them and then send off an email to skoda.

Dad worked for a firm that stored and shipped new cars in a big field.

The amount that were ragged and crashed is shocking. One bloke crashed a new car trying to do a handbrake parallel parking jobbie. Wrote off 5 cars

And cars, and lots of parts went walkies. They lost 20 cars over 3 months, 3 known stolen to order, 62 sets YES SETS of alloy wheels to trun a boggo into an SE, sat nav units from brand new factory cars etc etc.

All vehicles verified empty before loading and shipping onto lories in an airlock area, personel searched and enter/exit via turnstile. Shed loads of CCTV.

ive heard of skoda alloys going astray at a nearby ex army base where they store cars these days.

Don't know whether to thank you or not?

Guess some things in life, you are better off not knowing - all sounds scary stuff - and to think I WAS looking forward to my new car!

If I let you know when it's arriving, can you put some 'Handle With Care' stickers on it?:D

i watched 2 09 plate m5's come from immingham docks sideways round the corner and racing up Rosper Road to where they store the cars. i haven't seen a car come from the docks to the car place without hearing the engine scream.

no respect for them

Mine is in transit from Mlada Boleslav - guess the port of exit from mainland EU would most likely be either Rotterdam or Zeebrugge? How long do they normally spend at Grimsby once off the boat? Are they held at Grimsby until leaving for the dealerships or are they loaded onto transporters immediately, for either direct dealership delivery - or a via a designated holding area prior to dealership delivery?

Which model are you waiting for?

If an LE Octavia, it's been here since Nov ;)

A 1.4TSi DSG Elegance in Arctic Green (built week 17 , ie. w/c 20th April)

On looking at the Port of Grimsby map, the Alexandra Dock is surrounded by three huge VAG group holding areas. It is VAG UK's northern distribution site - which answers my original questions.

Yea, I've seen them going off Sheppy on the transporters.

Guess it must be Sheerness for the southern distribution and Grimsby for the northern ?

They get hammered on the test bench in the factories I'm told.
