vRS,here I come!

Featured Replies

Hi guys.My name is Chris, not a Skoda owner yet (but will be next Thursday)

Currently driving an '07 Saab 9-3 Aero 2.8 V6. Only bought it just before Xmas but to be honest it's not been a happy experience.Too many niggles on a 12,000 mile car and £600 to replace/paint the front spoiler after a little 'tap' into a high kerb

Anyway, decided to 'down-size' to a Fabia Sport so went to look at one at my local dealer.

However I saw a bright red Octavia vRS on the front and bought that instead. It's an '08 model but not yet registered.Funnily enough I did look at one before I bought the Saab (wish I had now)

Luckily I know one of the mechanics there so I got talking to him before making my mind up.I prefer to talk to the people who work on them rather than a salesman who will tell you anything to get a sale (usually)

Can't wait. Hope to join in the fun with you soon!

Thanks guys. All set for pick-up this Thursday.

I got a cracking deal on it I think.It's an '08 model,but will be on a '09 plate with cruise and 18's.

After I took it for a short run Sunday, the salesman announced it would come pre-registered.He kept that quiet when I put down my deposit a few days earlier!.I said I wasn't happy about it but did the deal anyway.

Got a call today and was told I would be the first owner.Result!

It's bright red (what's the colour?) and with the red brake calipers it look the dogs :D

Wow,my first time in a Skoda of any type and how nice it is!

It's going to be a pain running it in but I can tell that it will pull well.It feels just right.

He he he:rofl:-not laughing at your misfortune mate, just that i had a lucky escape. ive had my octy vrs 07 plate for 1 month. before i test drove it i had a go in a 9-3 aero and it was impressive in terms of the kit inside and the look-leather, all the toys and it was kin rapid too. Also the tiny badge snob voive inside my head said "ooh a Saab, for the same money as a Skoda" the salesman said he doubted whether i would even look at anything else he was so confident. Then 3 things happened-first i went round a corner BOING BOING-it was like a big shabby slipper. second i saw the depreciation and third i drove the VRS-no competition at all, handled like it was on rails. After that Saab filed for bankruptcy protection, GM motors tried to get rid of em and i think they have gone bust since. You did well to get rid mate and have opted for a quality motor that is far better than the Saab-i just wish you didnt have to find out the hard way.

Welcome and enjoy:thumbup:

Thanks danroly.Yes,I am glad to be rid of the Saab.I only just found out (via my Skoda dealer) that the Saab dealer I bought the 9-3 from was very near to being bankrupt at the time I bought it.No wonder they wanted payment in full 2 days before I collected the car.Another close shave!

Plus, the 9-3's interior seems to be the same, whether it's an Aero or a lower spec model. Can't say that about the VRS.

The Saab dealer rang me and left a message on the phone a couple of days before they filed for bankruptcy protection trying to get me to buy-the dealer now looks a very

bare and sorry place. a mate of mine who bought a saab a few years back was contacted by them reccently-they were looking to shift stock and were asking him to buy a year old one (9-3- vector sport) for less than £8000-he said thanks but no thanks , seeing as you are going bust an all:rofl:.

The vrs is special without shouting too much about it-wolf in sheeps clothing:D. If you dont mind me asking what did you pay for your vrs or do you want to be all British and keep that private?

It is in Corrida red with cruise and 18's.Screen price was £14,500.Plus they gave me £1,500 more allowance on the Saab than the Saab dealer did, plus 12 months rfl and they let me cash in my old tax, which had 8 months to run (£400 a year tax).He admitted they needed to clear all the '08 stock.Plus he showed me the bonus they get to do it.All in all a pleasant buying experience.

I too love the 'Q' car looks.

Sounds like a pretty good deal mate , enjoy .
