Plastic tag

Featured Replies

Just had a proper look through my service book and found a plastic tag inside which is written a couple of codes. One is four digits, the other is eight. Does anyone know what these might be?

I'm hoping they are the radio code and transponder code for the key as I can't find them anywhere else?

Cheers,

iep

You wont have the radio code, as its not normally required. The 4 digit code is the SKC codes needed to access and recode keys and the suchlike to the ecu. The 8 digit one is I believe the key number.

Actually I wish I had that plastic tag for my car I bought mine used and the previous owner could not locate it and the dealers here will not give it to me. Is it possible to use the Launch scanner and retrieve the skc code from the ecu?

The dealer should give you the tag codes with proof of ownership (car and V5 [or equivalent] often required).
