Featured Replies

due to a change of circumstances im hoping to be lucky enough to be upgrading to a mk 2 octy vrs (petrol) in a couple of months, i was just wondering what the interval is to replace the cambelt (time?mileage?) car will be 2-3 years old.anthing else i should be looking for? already decided it going to be a race blue hatch. thanks mike.:)

Well I popped into my Skoda garage the other day and asked about this. The chap looked my car up on the computer and told me that it was every 4 years or 120k miles.

Now 4 years sounds about right from what I've read on here but the mileage seems pretty high for a belt change.

Hi. Pretty sure the recommendation is now for the belt to be changed at 4 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Henrys Skoda in Glasgow told me 4 years. Mine will only have about 40k on it at that point but I'll be getting it done.

Yes i think the chap was talking in kilometers.

120000 km = 80.000 miles roughly

Nope the 2.0 TFSI according the ELSA has a timing belt change at 120,000 miles. It also states on the service sheets (for VW anyhow) that a belt change is not required before that mileage (miles or time).

About 2 years ago VW group advised all dealers to change cambelts at 4 years. I think they'd had a few go twang!
