Octy vRS ASR

Might be a stupid question, but should there be a light or something to show that ASR is switched on or off?

If it is off the light is on and vice versa....light is near the rev counter.

Yes, when switched off you should get an orange exclamation mark in a triangle within a circle on the dash, permanently on.

(the same light that flashes when it's triggered)

(/!\) :D

A light comes on when it's switched off.

Damn you guys are quick.

Must mean the lighton mine is not working :thumbdwn:

is mine broken?its flashes on and off rapidly in 1st and 2nd gear almost constantly :)

Not the infamous story where a certain member go it the wrong way round??? ;)

Where is Mr DevonUpturned anyway? ;)

Not necessarily. Mine takes a hefty shove of the ASR button to (de)activate it. Try pushing it very firmly and deliberately (errm, but don't break it) and see if the light comes on.

I'd like to think that these days the bulbs behind things like that are LED's which only go wrong rarely.

Where is Mr DevonUpturned anyway? ;)

And there we all were being very restrained

I did consider posting 'Don't know. Ask Jason' but thought better of it. :D

What is ASR, i bought my VRS and forgot to ask?

Also when i go fast and the wheels spin a light flashes on my dash board what does it mean?

That flashing light is the ASR "reducing" wheelspin.

ASR = Anti Slip Regulation IIRC...or Traction Control in plain english :)

Could a malfunctioning ASR cause an occassional "whumping" noise to come for the front right handside? I had it looked at by the dealer but they found no cause. The car drives fine but there is just an occassional noise that sounds like I am driving over white lines

Is ASR on when the button is not pressed, because i get the flashing light on my dash board, when attempting to wheel spin and the ASR button is not presses.

No light when ASR is on (active), a solid light when it is off (in-active). The flashing is to indicate you are wheelspinning and that ASR is trying to combat it.

Thanx for that, i take it its on(active) by default with the button is raised.

The button is always raised, so that is not an indication. But yes, it is always on as soon as you switch on the ignition. You have to switch it manually off.

devonupturned!

Genius!!!!

Its only easy if you know the answer
