VRS LE TSI Engine?

Featured Replies

It would appear that the VRS LE is being fitted with the new 2.0 TSI engine, I was wondering whether anyone on here has this engine installed in there car?

What are the real benefits over the older TFSI Engine?

Thanks in advance.

More fuel efficient and less emissions.

is it different from the one in the new golf gti and scirocco? that one has the extra bhp as well.

Yes, it's a bit confusing; the skoda uk website and brochure state the engine is the existing TFSI, but it is actually the new TSI. As well as the better economy/emissions as I understand it the really major change is a chain cambelt that means you save on the need to have a rubber one replaced at the 3 year service (I think?), although it would need regular oiling methinks...

...so it strikes me that the LE was a really good deal given the zero vat in March, great seats, new TSI engine and the updated dashboard/console (bolero/climatic). The only thing that was old was the body shape, but I actually prefer it to the new one (don't like the headlights in the new Octy). I know many didn't like the wheels, but personally I do, and think they look dead sporty so there :P

Only the GTi has the extra 10ps, not the Scirocco or indeed the vRS.

I was in Skoda garage on friday apparently the engine is same BHP but has slightly better torque and uprated cams too!

All immaterial really as most will be remapped as soon as their 3 year warranty has expired!

I think you'll probably find only a small minority of those produced get remapped.

The SEAT Leon FR has the extra 10PS

Having seen the performance stats on the new GTi it isn't any quicker so it maybe slightly heavier than the Mk5.

Damn I want a new Golf GTi but practicality must reign so I'll have to make do with my vRS!

Camchains are fed oil as is the rest of the engine (Pumped) so it does not need any maintenance at all. It is even automatically tensioned!

What sort of MPG increase do you get from the new TSI engine, i cant seem to find any information on the tinterweb about this engine in a VRS.

My understanding form recent posts here is that all the TSIs have been sold, and only the estates are left.

The TFSI engines have a 120k cambelt interval with no time limit anyhow.

Is it just my way of thinking that any rubber / plastic based items such as a cambelt would suffer from age deterioration aswell as fatigue damage (Mileage), and have some sort of calender based replacement interval aswell?
