Hi all - New to Skoda

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Thought I'd just introduce myself after lurking around Briskoda for the past week since I picked up my Octy2. Had to trade down from a 330i Beemer due to having to do 2.5k+ a month, was looking to go back to a Golf Tdi but had a look round a Skoda dealership when a friend was picking up her Fabia and thought I'd take an octavia for a spin. Fell in love stright away.

So anyway ended up with a 140PD 05 Elegance, with the maxidot and 17" alloys, guessing the first owner ordered these as extras, the car handles great and is very playful, I can tell I've dropped 100bhp between this and the Beemer but the octy is more fun to drive and I'm getting more then 23mpg more then I was - probably the most important part of the swap. I've a few ideas what I'm wanting to do to the car, firstly I'm switching the bulbs to Philips +80% probably, secondly I've been tossing the idea of improving the front brakes to the 312mm ones due to the fact that 80/85% of the miles I do are on the motorway or main A-roads, thinking of installing an all-in-one stereo/satnav/handsfree unit and then maybe get a remap done - not too sure on this last idea, still weighing pros and cons up on it.

Anyway, I've rambled on too long, hopefully I'll be able to get to a Broskoda meet either near home in Yorkshire or down in Dorset/Hampshire region when I'm down at work during the week.

Cheers,

Greg

Just a quick update, I've managed to change my dipped and main beams for osram night breakers after a lot of ****ing about trying to remove the connector to the light unit. No joy with the side lights though, just seen about trying to get to them with needle nose pliers so I'll give that a go tomorrow.

Hey there welcome to the community. regards to your head lights look out for a HID headlight conversion, it will replace your existing bulbs with a much higher output bulb and system very easy to fit cost 60-100 depending on fitment H1 H4 H7 etc. ive fitted them to my vrs and love them very simular to new audi headlights n mercedes hope this helps

Thanks for the tip, I looked into the HID conversion, but doesn't it require self leveling kit fitting to make it legal?

Ive fitted mine and had no problems, went straight through an mot. other drivers tend to flash you as they dont understand what decent headlamps are. hope this helps:thumbup:
