Changing suspension buffers

Featured Replies

Can anyone offer any advice on changing these? they are totally perished on the rear dampers so picked a couple up from the dealers the other day. Is it as simple as - jack car up, remove arch liner, undo top mount and lower bolt, drop damper, slide on new buffer and reassemble?

Any particular tools needed?

Thanks for the help, John :)

[EDIT] In case Ive misidentified the part or explained myself incorrectly I have ripped the below pic off the internet - can anyone let me know if Im thinking on the right lines to get these changed?

Thanks all :)

Anyone? I'm hoping to get this done in the next couple days.

Thanks

You will be needing a set of spring compressors, as with anything that involves removing the front top mounts from the damper shafts.

Thanks Ken, I'm guessing its exactly the same for the rear? Once Ive got the springs off is it pretty much as I've described it? This will be the first time I've attempted anything to do with the suspesion... as you can probably guess:O

Dunno where the rear bump rubbers are on a Furbie, but I didn't think they had rear coilovers? If not, then even if the bump rubbers are on the damper shafts you can get the damper off without spring compressors as long as you can keep weight on the suspension (been there, done that...).
