Odometer Readings???

Featured Replies

Is it possible to change the odometer and trip readings between miles and kilometers??

I think the dashboard readouts are locked.

:wave: by the way - not seen your face on here for a while. The eibachs you got me are still doin' a damn fine job! :thumbup:

It is easy to do with VAGcom, although it will also change the MPG to l/km (litres per Kilometre) but still show the mpg sign. You can also change it to the 12 hr clock but you will get miles per US gallon (3.8L) over UK gallons (4.5l)

The left hand display is in MPG/ miles etc but the odometer/trip is in km, it is possible to change just the odo/trip display??

The dealer says it need a new dash in it. This is fine as it is under warranty, just a hastle for my mate to get it to the dealer. I have VAGcom and if possible will change it for him.

It seems strange that is is a UK supplied car with a MPH speedo but a km odo/trip.

Sound like a Friday afternoon or Monday morning car :)

Someone has put the wrong odo/trip in the car. ( it should have been for a left hooker )

OOOPS

Steve

Its easy enough to do, its got the wrong coding in the dash.

Alex, get the code for the dash insert for me (should be a five digit code) and i'll tell you what it should be. I suspect what has happened is it coded for Europe and it need a GB prefix in it.

Ross

What you need to do with Vagcom is

go to section 17 (instruments)

Recode - 07

write down the 5 digit code.

The third number is country version, where..

1= EU (24h clock, km & l/km)

2= USA (12h clock, miles & miles/ US gallon)

3= Canada (not sure on difference)

4=UK (24h, miles/uk gallon)

5= Japan

6= Saudi Arabia

7= Australia

This should sort it.

Or you could follow Jeff's advice...lol

You are borderline anally retentive there mate, at least i'd have to look it up in the workshop manual.

Question...(might be a stupid one, but i'll ask anyhoo)

Does converting from MPH to KMH also convert the existing reading on the Odometer ?

Could be handy to have the ability to change back & forth for Euro trips for anyone without Sat-nav..

:)

on' date=' where..

1= EU (24h clock, km & l/km)

2= USA (12h clock, miles & miles/ US gallon)

3= Canada (not sure on difference)

4=UK (24h, miles/uk gallon)

5= Japan

6= Saudi Arabia

7= Australia

Canadian will be 12Hr Clock, Km, and L/Km BTW....

I've put all the stuff I have found out on the net on a word doc so it was easy to find.

Jeff - was looking at creating a FAQ for the site, so if you want to mail me the Word doc I'll merge it with the stuff I have :thumbup:

Chris

My servicing intervals were set to kilometres but my odometer was reading in miles! :confused: so my service light didnt come on at 10K!! :( When i took it in the garage sorted it though so it sould now come on at around 21k :D
