2 grand for your old car

Featured Replies

The Government and manufacturers contribute up to a decided amount for a vehicle.

indeed, and the manufacturers have already cost covered their contributions by increasing the retail price on all models by an average of £1K. Dont forget your 2K comes off the RRP price and not any discounted price you can otherwise negotiate.

I wouldnt have thought so , the only car that would be anywhere near would maybe be an Slxi 1.8t pre facelift Octavia with low miles and in good nick. At that time there would only be the Mk1 Octy and the Felicia on sale in the UK (late 1999).

The Fabia Mk1 will just miss the end of the scrappage scheme , as most of the ones that celebrate their tenth birthday next year will be on W or X plates. I 'guestimate' my V reg with 41K on it would be worth approx £1200 as a private sale or around £900-£1000 to a dealer as a part ex.

I think an amazing condition Felicia Fun would run up £2k. There's a Felicia advertised about now at £13k which is a VR6 conversion but it will never sell in a million years at that price IMHO.

BBC NEWS | England | Wear | Nissan to extend scrapping scheme

Nissan extend the scheme to cars over 8 years old. One of the few marques you can buy that actually benefit workers in the UK, if there are any Nissan made models you would want to own is a different matter!

370z?

370z?

Certainly, but if you can afford a 370z you probably aren't driving around in an 8+ year old banger!

370z?

It isnt listed , and nor is the GTR. IIRC its the Micra , Micra CC , Note and Quashqai 5 and 7 seaters IE British built cars only..

:)Maybe not, but a few 20 and 30 year old Skodas have been sold for more than £2000!

I doubt any of my cars are worth £2000 in their current condition, but I wouldn't even consider scrapping any of them to buy a new car if I were offered £2000 to do so.
