Is the hot air normal?

Featured Replies

No, not the witty and informed debate found everywhere on this site, no it's the hot-ish to warm air that comes through the vents whenever the climatronic is turned off. Spoke to the service manager at the dealership who helpfully told me that he never turned his climatronic off.....so....erm...that's it. So does anyone have a few wise words on the subject?

Do you mean actually turned right off or in ECON mode ?

If you mean ECON mode, the air will be the same temp as the outside atmosphere.

If you mean climatronic OFF, never tried it !

Yeah, with the climatronic turned completely off!

Dont know, mine is always set either 19c or 20c in the full Auto position, Except in winter when I use the demist button. I dont think I have ever seen the word "off" since I turned it on at the dealer 3 and a bit years ago.

I've found with my car that the air comes through at the last temperature it was set to when set to the off position, no compressor running though. So at LO it's at ambient temp, at 25 it's at 25 and so on.

Hi Nick, with Climatronic switched OFF, the blower shouldn't be running so no, you shouldn't get any air moving through the vents hot or cold.

If your car is under warranty, take it in; if not then the blower is behind the glovebox (very easy to remove) - you could try having a poke around there. Start by seeing if there's any voltage on the fan contacts (it unplugs easily).

If with the fan off it shouldn't allow any air to move through the car, I think this is one breakdown on the car I actually won't fix. I like the fact that air still moves to stop the air getting stale. If I don't want to feel air moving, I just manually close the vents.

Right, thanks to all. so there may be a problem as no air at all should be coming thru the vents with the climatronic off at all, even when the car is moving? Looks like a trip to the dealers..
