Renault 12

Featured Replies

Hi everybody, :)

I am new here and I would like you to help me in my search for a Renault 12.

I know that here is all about Skoda but I don't know where else to appeal.

All I ask you is with you see a Renault 12 in UK in a pretty good shape and RHD, write here please, hopefully the owner wants to sell it.

I searched on websites but no results :(

(If I posted wrong I apologize :))

Does this model hold some sort of memories for you then?

My dad had one and loved it.

They appear to be as rear as *** in RHD form.

My cousin has a 1984 B reg Renault 11 with 80K on the clock and it the interior looks like new.

Something like that:P

My dad had one in 1980's but he had to sell it and for last couple of days I am just thinking how i can find one and keep it in shape for a long time. :)

Best place to ask is www.retro-renault.com

Thanks for the website, I didn't know about it.

But if one of you sees one, please write her where it is and I will go and see it. :)

Best thing you can do is get tickets to the Renault sport day at Silverstone as there are always plenty of classic Renaults on display there.

Even if there isn't one for sale they'll have a good idea of where to pick one up

My dad had one as well, had a string of Renaults in the early 80s and followed the 12 with an 18. Both were horribly unreliable from what I recall and he replaced the 18 with one of the first Sierras in the country. I think you will be very lucky to find an original one that is in decent condition over here. Most have long disintegrated.HOWEVER they were made under licence in Romania by Dacia up until 2004 (note edit) so if you really want one go out there, buy one for pennies and drive it back. Google Dacia 1310.

The 70s and 80s French car i would most like to own is a Citroen GS: I remember them as quite a brisk little car, great ride and a great sounding air cooled flat four motor. Anyone know of a good late 70s GSX 2 (the sporty one?:)

I had a '12' ( WWY 647S) it was perfectly fine, and would do an indicated 78mph all day long.

I broke it, one day being rather too enthusiastic over a big dip on the moors. The scars on the road are still there 25 years later.........

I think you just saved my dream :D . I found some Dacia 1310 for sale in Romania but I think is to far from here to go and get one.

If in the next couple of months I don't find a Renault 12 here in UK probably I will go in holiday in Romania and I will get back with a Dacia :P

Thanks guys, you've been really helpful.

GS(A)s are rare beasts in this country too. Have a look at Citroenet

Don't think so Tailhappy but maybe my dad has been leading two lives:D I know the GS is a rare beast in the U.K Ken. I have seen quite a few in the South of France in good condition but those in good condition are quite pricey as they are considered classics. Even 2CVs are pricey in France now. I would love a U.K spec GS as it had lovely Jaeger analogue instruments rather than the stupid revolving drum speedo that the French got.

To the original poster, good luck with the search. I am sure you will be making that trip to Romania though (loads of Dacias out there) as I can't remember the last time I saw a genuine 12 on the roads here.
