RS is the name. vRS is only the label.

a V5 means nothing, its simply a bit of paper produced by DVLA and none of the information on it is legal as such.

For what its worth, my old July 2001 Y reg vRS was "Octavia vRS" on the V5.

& mine is a 2002 & says 'Octavia RS'. It would have made sense the other way round if they had intended calling it RS but had changed to vRS due to external pressures (Ford?)

If you look carefully there is an I after the V on the rear badge.

So it's a VIRS.

I have my V5 on me today (photocopying it at work ) and mine (52 plate) is down as an "OCTAVIA RS"

RS stands for RennSport; the german word for motor-racing

That's true, for Audi's.

But Skoda isn't a German company! From looking back at the 120 S and 130 RS models, Skoda described them as the Sport and Rallye Sport editions.

Also Skoda are famous for their rally cars, so I think we can assume what it stands for!

So, RS in reference to a Skoda stands for 'Ralley Sportu' (Czech for Rallye Sport).

I've just checked and on my V5, it has Fabia VRS, but are you saying it should be pronounced RS and written vRS ? and not VRS, vrs, Vrs VRs. :confused:

i have just bought some nice 8.5x18's for the skoda, just need to find a car to put them onto:)

oh yeh, at the moment i "only" have 6 sets of alloys, i'm slipping up.

so have we sorted out if the skoda is an rs or a vrs yet:rofl:

Looks like it's badged as a vRS (due to Ford), but still an RS in the log book. I'll check my log book tonight!

look on skoda.co.uk, do they call it vRS or RS on all of their marketing bits and bobs?
