And another vRS to the list......

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just collected (on Friday) my 07 plate Octavia vRS from those nice people at Capitol Skoda in Newport Gwent. I live in Buckingham but went to Newport as they were the only dealers willing to offer realistic money for my Saab 9-3 Aero.

I've been busy over the weekend fitting my Pure Highway DAB radio, external antenna to the back of the roof and aux lead to the Jumbo box. A lot of sore fingers pulling off trim (the B-pillar was a nightmare).

Also fitted my Nokia Bluetooth handsfree system. Didn't bother with the audio mute etc as it get's annoying when the radio mutes out just because the phone is announcing it's fully charged, and then 3 minutes later that it's charging again!!!

Future jobs will be (amongst others):

Retrofit the Cruise Control system. I cannot live without it having used it for the last 4 years and using it almost all the time. £160 from Octavia-vrs with fitting in Northampton. Have to wait for the money to become available but I hope I can get it sorted soom enough!

Installing Xenon system. I bought a kit to fit to my old Mazda 6 with great results. I took the fit off when the Mazda died. The Saab already had Xenons so I tried to fit the kit to the front fog lights but the xenon H3 bulbs wouldn't fit the lamp units. So it's going on the vRS, just need to get some H7 4300k bulbs off fleabay.

Installing 4" CCFL daytime running lights. These will go nicely in the centre groove just inboard of the front fogs on the vRS grille.

Swapping out the interior light unit for an old shape Audi A6 one that has the LED interior ambiance lights.

My first impressions of the car are overall great. Performance is fantastic, handling is great, grip is OK from the Bridgestone Potenza RE050s but the brakes are only just OK. I'm hoping they will improve as I clean the discs of all the crud from the car being stationary on the forecourt but you can't seem to do many hard stops without fade becoming a problem (which is often the case in Milton Keynes between all the roundabouts).

Anyway, this is a fantastic site and I'm sure it will be very useful in the future (it already has) and I hope I can be of some service to you all too.

Cheers,

Ian

When the pads wear down I'll investigate alternative pads etc....

Hi Ian....

Milton Keynes roundabouts!! Don't you just hate them.... especially on those occasions when you have to stop :thumbdwn:
