Just wondering if I got a fairly good deal??

Also is it really true that people move out your way/slow down when driving as they think your unmarked police??

If you have bought the car then now is not the time to be asking did you get a good price - - Decent spec but about two grand more than what you should have paid

Not just yet, Almost purchased though.

You say it's about 2 grand more but looking nationwide on auto trader they all seem to be about that price range with that mileage??

I have a black magic estate with xenons and roof bars and its gets annoying at times, people slow down in front and people going past on the motorway more or less match speeds so you have to slow down even more to change lanes to avoid the HGV going at 56mph

My work garb doesn't help - black polo shirt and black body warmer

There are a few black unmarked Octavias in and around Kent and Sussex where I generally communte.

2 grand more? Not IMHO.

Yes, I get a bit of that with a black vRS and Xenons. It's quite amusing sometimes ;)

strange, thought it was only the early vRS' that had the green callipers. I could have been certain an 07 should have red callipers, then again suppose they could have been painted green

With due respect you don't seem to be looking in the right places - I sold my 06 VRS estate in Jan 09, 50k, one owner, FSSH, best I could get was £6550 - even though prices were very soft at that time and have firmed up a bit since then you should be able to get a comparible motor to the one you are looking outside the dealer network for around £9k.

Cheapest I could find was 10k private but that was 270 miles from my location. This was cheapest black one in my area with low mileage.

Only if they don't know what they are looking for;). But you can have lots of fun keeping people guessing depending how you drive:D

Yup they should be Red. Mine is a MY2007 which i got new in Mar 07. He could however have got an old MY2006 that wasn't registered till Mar 07 or after due to options fitted etc.

I reckon you got stiffed over and someone managed to get themselves a cheap car at your expense.

Sorry, but I have to agree. :( There again, I don't feel I got quite as good a deal as I should have got when I swapped my elegance for my vrs at the start of this month, I just had to tell myself it's not worth beating yourself up over 500 quid - just move on and enjoy the new car.

If yo paid a bit over the odds for it then you still got a good car with some nice options and in the colour you wanted.

Still a good buy imo as you'd have had to buy a brand new one to have it specced up and choose the colour you wanted.

Someone said in an earlier post all they could get for their 2006 vrs estate was 6550, I managed to get offered 6850 for mu 2006 vrs hatch from webuyyourcar.com without them even seeing it so things aren't all that bad.

Throughly enjoy when cars slow down for me thinking I'm blod, I normally slow down with them, just to wind them up some more!!

Mine is a 56 plate and has red calipers, but a friend from work also has a 56 plate with green, so that is obviously the change over point.

On the subject of price, I gave £7400 in January, 18's but no maxidot or xeons, (bothered) 38k, 1 owner, but that was from flebay. Local dealer reckoned they could get over £10k on the forcourt, so maybe your price is a bit over the top, I would say its a sellers market though, so haggle, haggle, then haggle some more! £9500 would be a fair price me thinks!

Interestingly, my car is almost exactly the same as yours - 07 plate black VRS with (at the time of buying) 11k on the clock.

I have green callipers too :)

Stu looked up the build date of my car and it was feb 2006 - it wasn't registered until March 2007 however - you probably don't have an MP3 compatible head unit, which was very annoying to find!

Not to rub it in, but mine was £8300 but his was exceptionally cheap at the time (Nov 2008) and it has a couple of scratches on the paintwork.

Get it remapped then colour code your grill

EDIT - I also do NOT have dual climate or rear leccy windows.

The MP3 thing doesn't bother me as i'm a DJ and all my CD's etc are burnt as Audi CD's anyway. They sound better without compression. I was looking at an 06 one for 9450 but that had 40k on the clock. So Im thinking for an 07 octy with dual climate and rear leccy windows and alot less mileage is worth the extra 1.5k. I have that arm box thing in the middle so maybe that has an Aux in anyway?? Would be handy if it does and can plug in my "scanner" cough cough.

I thought the Aux input was only in the jumbo box from the MY2007 onwards, could be wrong though.

Price wise, doesn't really matter what you paid for it as long as you're happy.

Welcome to Briskoda by the way.

If you like it (which i do), who cares about the price..enjoy ..the limited edition is coming in at 2k less than i paid for mine, and i certainly wouldn't swap !!

Agree with others on price - you got a good deal if you are happy with it - it's your money and that's what matters. You wouldn't have paid the price if you weren't happy.

For comparison I bought an 07 plate vRS hatch, but a diesel, in Dec 08 with 6,000miles on it, from a main dealer, and paid a smidge under £12k. Had sat nav, jumbo box, all round leccy windows, dual zone and 18" wheels on it. In hindsight I think I paid maybe £700 or so too much, but four months on I love the car so who cares?!?

And yes, people do think you are unmarked plod, if they don't know what to look for. As with another poster above, my work gard doesn't help either (light coloured shirts and fairly sombre ties!) but it is quite entertaining to bazz down the outside lane of the motorway and watch BMWs and Mercs move out of the way at precisely 69.8mph, nervously scanning the rear view... Sometimes I pretend to fiddle with things on the dash just to spook them!!

Collect your car and enjoy.

And welcome to Briskoda.

10k is 2k over the odds?

I'm going to have to disagree with that also.

You're buying from a dealer - I'd say that is about on the money, might have a little room for negotiation but I wouldn't say 2k worth.

Thanks for all the kind welcomes, Will post up some pics once collect the car, Cannot wait until start driving it, Just got to haggle with insurance as not that nice on the wallet being only 22.

I dont think thats not a bad price as a dealer is trying to get me to a buy and 08 plate race blue estate for£13.995 which i think is a bit over the top but i dont know the spec. Petrol Vrs' s are hard to come by at the moment and one dealer told me that within a week of having them they are sold!
