vRS estate help please......................

Featured Replies

A chap I work with is thinking about the vRS estate to replace his Astra.

Now, he needs to put a dog cage in the boot for his police dog. Does he need to get any kind of boot liner or any thing to go over the spare wheel area to raise the floor up to provide a firm and level platform for the cage??

Any help, hints or suggestions etc will be gratefully received.

The elegance models come with a raised floor, which is removable. A 'rubber' floor tray is available & there is a version with a fold over flap to protect the bumper area.

I think both the cage and the boot lining are optional extras and you can have either or.

I've got a liner, which fits up the sides about 12" and the flap to cover/protect the rear bumper when mans best friend gets in or out. It was about £48 ish from Skoda stealer.

Sorry, my mistake, didn't make myself clear :rotz:

It's an actual dog cage you can lift in and out, not the cage that goes behinde the seats :o

then id have said you want the variable boot floor which makes the boot floor level, can be lifted up and things stored under neath

My vRS floor is level without any variable boot floor (it has a flat cover over the spare wheel). I expect it also has more height for a larger crate than the variable height floor versions.

I carry two dogs daily in my vrs estate a German Shepherd and a Springer spaniel and I had a twin cage built by a company in hereford way called hamster baskets, the cage due to the boot floor has to constructed and de-constructed in the car as the cage fills the entire boot and also due to the fact the floor is lower than the opening.

I also have a liner made for the boot by a company called hatchbag this covers the boot floor, back of the seats, boot sides and has a detachable bumper flap to protect the bumper from scratches.

My bumper for added protection to is covered in a clear plastic by a company called venture shield this gives added scratch protection.

I must say for cleaning purposes its a pain to construct and deconstruct compared to my old car which had a flat boot floor and my cage just slid out but now I have done it a few time and coupled with the hatchbag its a small price to pay for such a nice car.

Hope this helps and if I can take pictures for you and find out how to load them up let me know

Don't police dogs come with their own police dog van these days?
