skoda popular monte carlo

Featured Replies

They only made about 70, but how many are left and what do they cost?

Also how much for a 30's popular saloon or a sport/roadster?

'Monte Carlo' coupes I think there were a lot less than that, chance of buying one now, NIL to slim, probably around £30k - £40k.

Popular saloons not a problem, how much work do you want to do on renovation ?

item 6 - no price.

Dont think this sold

1939 SKODA POPULAR 1.2 on eBay, also, Skoda, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 28-Apr-09 02:01:18 BST)

£7500, get it for nearer 6500, you'd pay that much for a merely-okay renovation in Czech !

Do it !

John what do you recon the roadster for restoration will go for? I take it you can get the parts over there?

Funny - the first link, the red car, has gone ! The black-ish one you might be lucky and get it for around £5000 (150000+ czech crowns) they say it's complete with valid Czech paperwork.

Don't forget this is a motor with wooden frame supporting the exterior sheet metalwork, which might need complete replacement. The description merely says the car has never been renovated, so everything is there and original but it's a trip all the way across Czech and Moravia possibly to the Slovak or Polish border to make sure !

Parts ? only options are months of trawling round autojumbles looking for bits you might not recognise, or 'Wanted' ads from a foreigner which immediately doubles the price. Havn't put you off yet, have I ?!

Not as stylish but the UK saloon is a more sensible bet .

Skofast just out of interest, how much do mid 90s Tatra (600 series I believe) cost in the Czech Republic and are there many for sale. Always loved the Vignale styled late cars. Sorry I know it is not about the Skoda Popular but as you are on site maybe you will know?

I am just rebuilding an ash timber/alloy skined car. We are building the body from scratch from drawings as there is nothing left of the original.

I am just getting an idea for the next project after I finish this one.

Thanks Skofast.I see you are an ex pat, how's life in Czech Rep? I ask as I am a trained tefl teacher and been thinking about doing a stint there.Give me a chance to trawl for cars too! You got a handle on the lingo? What do you do out there?

TEFL teachers, they're everywhere especially in Praha and schools/language schools are famous for exploiting and ripping-off UK/USA teachers. Good luck with that !

The language is very tricky, 6 years practice and I still don't get lots of the grammatical niceties.

What do I do ? Bugger all, but large amounts of it !

This is my nickname loaned to my best buddy who I 'help' make the stuff -

Will give it a miss work wise then, I'm too savvy to be exploited! I'm only doing that work temporarily before I go back to uni for a Masters anyway(lawyer by training). I would love to visit for a holiday however and see the museum and factory at MB!:D

Those Tatras are surprsingly expensive, my calculations putting some of them up near the £40K mark:eek:

Yes, and all hoping for that call from some 'rich foreigner' !

If you want any bits, you get Skofast to get them through his Czech mates, then you might pay normal prices!

Hi Matt,

Tatras of all ages have gone up in value in recent years, apparantly they've become pretty cool in the USA amongst people with more money than us.

Probably the best condition old Octavia in UK (not mine) is currently for sale in latest SOCGB magazine.

cheers .. Darren

The early ones are worth a fair amount. If you look at them they were a quality car in the 1930's and a very different one at that.

First item - this is the immediate predecessor, the last 420 and the first true Popular were the same car underneath.

'post-renovation, leather trim, with number plates/documents. One of 49 built, highest offer'
