Panoramic - from Dubai Marina to Burj al Arab via Atlantis

Disclaimer: I know it's wonky! will try and do it again with a tripod or a level table!

Whilst out last night, took the time to nip down to the beach after a very nice dinner at the Westin hotel on the edge of Dubai Media City.

Apart from the fact it's not level as I was resting the camera on one of those table ledges you get wrapped around a parasol, what do you think? I did bump the exposure up to about +1.7 in post, and so there may be a tiny bit of noise although I did use base ISO of 200.

It's composed of 9 photos all taken in landscape using the 85mm. Stitched together using PTGui. It's clickable for a higher res version. Full res is around 80MP

Nice colours and reflections, could maybe do with slightly less exposure in some areas around the lights. Not sure if you can mask some of these when doing your selective exposure increase?

Just thinking because of its length it would look really good on the wall in an airport or somewhere like that.

I might also have wanted to get the beach to continue all the way along the picture (probably very difficult unless you use a really low tripod in the sand to add some foreground interest, or alternatively something to stop the horizon splitting the picture exactly in half.

Good effort

Thanks. I suppose the next step is doing it again, without the wonkiness, and do some bracketing for some HDR fun. Hmm :rubchin: HDR + panorama composite. Now that's a challenge :D

I once tried a HDR + Pano and by God I will not be trying again anytime soon!

The exposure is just right though, looks really good and the colours are fantastic. The only thing that is bugging me is that intense light just under the moon; it's the flare that's irritating more than anything.

Otherwise, top job!

Wow!

Just need a monitor with a 10ft wide screen to view it in all its glory!!!

very cool.

very nice little bit of software. Never heard of it before.

Had a small play after taking some pictures whilst out a walk on Sunday.

It is pretty neat stuff. The advanced version will also correct perspective and do lots of other fancy things but I haven't played around with it yet. Nice to know they also do a 64 bit version. Should come in handy when you're stitching say 10 50MB TIFF files together :D
