First Wax & Details How do I?

Featured Replies

Ok got a 2005 VRS in Black Magic, got a few light scratches were i have dried with a aeroblade thingie.

Obviously not doing that again, got a load of new products

AG shamppo and conditioner

MAGS Clay Kit

AG UDS

Collinite 915 (supoosed to be better for dark cars)

Good chamois and bickets etc..

OK so is this the order in which i should do things

1 wash and dry

2 clay

3.wash and ry again

4 MAGS Scratch X

5 AG UDS

6 Coll 915

7 Beer

Also when polishing and waxing do i go in a circular motion or just up and down and how long do you leave the poslish and wax and before buffing out

Cheers

When applying the wax I apply in a circular motion, and when buffing off I tend to follow the lines of the car. I do know that a lot of people buff off in a circular motion too - I find it more tiring and get the same results, quite frankly :D

Ditch the chamois and use waffle weave towels for drying (Pat Dry)

I would also ditch the Megs Scratch X and use AG SRP then the AG UDS or even Colli as the LSP.

i do have AG SRP aswell will that get the same results as scratch x?

SRP has a lot of fillers so it will fill and mask minor scratches. I've never rated Scratch X for anything other than scuff mark removal. Complete removal of scratches is best done with a rotary or dual action polishing machine with pad and product selected to match the type pf paint.

For all your options, check out Detailers World. We also have our very own detailing guru on here called Baker21.

From another thread

This Is what you have (Assuming swirl type scratches):

Fillers like AG SRP and colourmagic do this

and eventually wear away

Cutting back with an abrasive polish, partial cut:

finish cut:

A widly available product, off halfords shelves is meguiars scratchX which will take a bit of elbow grease to get where you want but if its only localised then shouldnt be too bad. Just remember once you have cut back the topcoat to reapply a finishing product such as a wax or sealant to protect the open wound :D

Theres a good thread on hand swirl removal here: ** Swirl Removal By Hand - Test ** - Detailing World
