1.4 16v head conversion

Featured Replies

im currently using the 8v engine but i feel like a project. does anyone know how easy it would be to bolt the 16v head from the fabia, polo or other similar cars.

would i be able to use the existing ECU and wiring loom along with the clocks?

would the gearbox need upgrading aswell to cope with the slight increase in power?

any other items which i may of overlooked in this post.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

don't think would be possible as the engines are different in size (1397cc(8v) and 1390(16v)), ECU would be different, and head gasget is a different size.

Complete nonsense, the 8v engine is a pushrod design and the 16v engine is a DOHC design - they are completely incompatible. If you've got a 1.4 8v engine and have got money to burn you'd be better off trading the whole car in for one with a better engine (petrol or diesel). I can't see the point in keeping the current chassis and changing the engine when you consider all the work with the loom etc. that'd be required.

^^^what he said^^^ :D

Agree with the other guys, you would be pee'ing against the wind imo.
