2002 VRS RADIO CODE Removing the battery HELP

Featured Replies

I need to remove the battery to fit my VIS induction kit and i thought i would find the radio code first before disconecting the battery, but i cant find it. Its the origional Cd radio and i read on here if i disconect the battery and fit my induction kit then reconect the battery that when i turn the ignition on the radio should have saved its code and sets itself so i dont need to code it. Is this true? Will it work when i reconnect the battery or will it need a code ?

Thats correct, you shouldnt need the code. The code is stored in the ECU and will be resent back to the radio when the power is restored.

The best thing you could do would remove the cd player but still keep connected & write down the serial number, then give your local dealership call & ask them to request the code for you from Skoda UK, they may charge though, but at least you will have the code should it be required.

Just turned it on and it comes up saying SAFE then 1000, so ye i need the radio code. Is there anywhere else i can get the serial number from because i do not have the tool to remove it. Also i dont have a local Skoda dealership, i live in orkney. What can i do ?

Mine does this every time I disconnect the battery, just hit the number buttons and it comes out of SAFE mode everytime.

it will come up safe, you need to turn the radio on with the key in position 1 (engine not running) and leave it for a few mins and it should get the code.

turn it to the ignition lights or the one before that ? I tried pressing the numbers but that didnt help.

The lights on, it should get the code. If it doesnt then its possible the K wire is disconnected from the HU. If you bought the car used, perhaps the previous owner disconnected it for an aftermarket HU. But then you should have the code.

its not workin. left it for just under 10mins. Still comes up saying SAFE then 1000

Doesnt look good, your dealer should be able to get the code in a few hours if that helps. When I got my new dashpod, I needed the code to my Audience and my dealer called me with the code later the same day.

my nearest dealer is inverness, i stay in orkney, If i called them up and gave them my code from the back of the radio could they get it for me?

They'll need your VIN number, and the serial number from the headunit. Its normally done online in a couple of mins now, but if you ask nicely they should be able to do it without you present.
